BEFORE PARASITE is an online film event, that seeks to celebrate and expose its viewers to more South Korean movies made before Bong Joon Ho’s critically acclaimed film “Parasite”. Over the course of a week, viewers will have a chance to enjoy a number of highly acclaimed South Korean movies.

“A Tale of Two Sisters” (which is actually supposed to be translated to “Rose Flower, Red Lotus”) is a movie about two sisters who are released from mental hospital back home. They come back home to disturbing, supernatural events and a beautiful but suspicious stepmother.

MEMORIES OF A MURDERER

“Memories of a Murderer” is one of Bong Joon Ho’s earlier films that was loosely based on a true serial killer story in South Korea. The story revolves around two detectives who are trying to solve a series of crimes targeting the town’s young women.

“Taxi Driver” is based on a real life story during the historical Gwangju Uprising in 1980. The film is about a Seoul taxi driver who becomes entangled in the riots, rebellions, and political turmoil that took place in Seoul in the 80s.
